The Route
Rosslare to Edinburgh - 549 Km
It’s the final push for a very tired team. Day one takes them 72km from Rosslare to Arklow, followed by a 75km detour to Dublin on day two. Day three is 86km closer to the end goal as the team ride on to Dundalk, then 88km into Northern Ireland’s Belfast on day four. Teams rest on 9th March, catching a ferry to Scotland, then it’s back on the bicycles to tackle a hefty 103km from Stranraer to Thornhill. The 6th cycling day is a 70km trek to Lanark ready for the very final day - 55km to Edinbugh’s Murrayfield stadium and a triumphant end to a phenomenal challenge.
Stage 5
Day 1: 05 Mar - 72 Km
Stage 5 begins with a steady ride of 73km of coastline, taking the team to Arklow.
Day 2: 06 Mar - 75 Km
Today is our penultimate stadium stop - Croke Park. 75km into Irelands capital city of Dublin. Guiness all round?
Day 3: 07 Mar - 86 Km
We leave Dublin & travel 86km north to Dundalk.
Day 4: 08 Mar - 88 Km
Riders cross the border to make their way to the Northern Irish capital. Its 88km to Belfast
Day 5: 09 Mar - 0 Km
A rest day to catch the Stena Line Superferry to Stranraer
Day 6: 10 Mar - 103 Km
The introduction to Scotland begins in style as the cyclists pedal through the beautiful Galloway Forest Park to Thornhill. Today’s total will be 103km.
Day 7: 11 Mar - 70 Km
On the penultimate day of cycling riders begin the ascent to Edinburgh with a gentle 70km ride to the small town of Lanark.
Day 8: 12 Mar - 55 Km
The final day and final 55km have arrived. After 24 days in the saddle and more blisters than can be counted Lawrence et al will arrive at Murrayfield exhausted but elated.
